Patrol Torpedo Boat PT-109 gikk i tjeneste i 1942 i Stillehavet. 2. august 1943 ramponerte den japanske destroyeren Amagiri PT-109, noe som fikk patruljebåten til å synke. I en krisesituasjon klarte sjefen for enheten og USAs fremtidige president, John F. Kennedy, å redde hele mannskapet. The TORPEDO BOAT pt-109 patrol entered service in 1942 in the Pacific. On August 2, 1943, the Japanese destroyer Amagiri rammed the PT-109, causing the patrol boat to sink. In a crisis situation, the commander of the unit and the future president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, managed to save the entire crew.
